Research Economist

Responsibilities To produce frequent and insightful written analysis of a country, region or global with forecasts relating to the underlying factors that drive currency, bond and equity markets; to understand / explain policy events to Citi's clients both external and internal. The ability to lead teams. Supervise juniors Address bespoke client requests. Interact with clients internal and external as requested by Sales & Trading. Develop relationships with Citi clients. Collaboration with colleagues. Stay informed on developments that have a bearing on the macro environment. Address client requests. Engage in Citi's broader corporate objectives, such as recruitment and training of junior analysts and associates. The economist will forecast and write reports about Mexican macro variables (activity, inflation, rates, and FX, etc.). Strong commercial and analytical skills are a must. Experience in having covered Emerging Market economies in the buy side or sell side would be an advantage. The economist will cover Mexico with the possibility of adding coverage of some Latin American economies later. Qualifications 15+ years of relevant experience. Clear and effective communication both written and spoken. Advanced technical skills. Methodical approach and demonstrated organizational capabilities. Good interpersonal skills and proven team player. Possess a positive attitude, drive and initiative. Secure and maintain applicable licenses. Education Bachelor's / University degree, Master's degree preferred.
