Sr. Materials Planner/Scheduler AAM - American Axle & Manufacturing Job Description Summary Responsible for scheduling, planning, and oversight of material procurement, production, and delivery. Develops and executes material planning for a product line. Ensures that all material requirements for assigned programs are satisfied within the allocated time frame. Coordinates flow of materials within the manufacturing facility. Coordinates transfer of materials to and from inventory or warehouse. Schedules and controls the release of materials. Monitors material inventory in the plant, in the warehouse, and by critical suppliers. Generates forecasts and manages the replenishment planning for parts and materials; ensures specified service levels are realized. Job Responsibilities Accountable for customer weekly and daily ship requirements and window times; communicate with production and shipping departments. Proactively react to changes. Responsible to rack raw material replenishment to ensure production coverage Utilize reports to monitor adherence to schedules Supports the coordination and communication of daily production build requirements to satisfy customer demand and maintain inventory targets Review and maintain supplier forecasts on a weekly basis; maintain cums Communicate proactively with trading partners Monitor expedited inbound and outbound material by identifying problems and resolutions Validate pull loop size based on PFEP recommendations Audit and update the PFEP collection plans for accuracy Proactively elevate critical supply issues to management Proactively elevate critical delivery issues to management Utilize the supplier scorecard and troubleshoot poor performing suppliers; work closely to improve supplier performance Utilize the supplier scorecard to initiate internal operational improvements Monitor and manage inventory targets and variances Responsible to follow safe practices All other duties as assigned. Required Education Bachelor’s Degree Required Skills and Education Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics Technical & Functional Skills Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics) Advanced inventory management techniques (safety stock, reorder point, demand forecasting) Production scheduling & capacity planning Supply chain analytics and KPI tracking Strong Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, data modeling) Understanding of BOMs (Bills of Materials) Forecasting and demand planning Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement concepts Supplier coordination and purchasing fundamentals Soft Skills Strong communication (cross-functional with manufacturing, procurement, engineering) Problem-solving & decision-making Time management & ability to prioritize Leadership or mentoring experience (typical in senior roles) Analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making Ability to work under pressure to meet production deadlines Collaboration and negotiation with suppliers and internal teams About AAM As a leading global Tier 1 Automotive and Mobility Supplier, AAM designs, engineers and manufactures Driveline and Metal Forming technologies to support electric, hybrid and internal combustion vehicles.
