The team you will be a part of The Tax team ensures that the organization meets its tax obligations and objectives and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Activities may include undertaking research; evaluating the legality and tax effectiveness of current and future business activities; preparing and submitting tax returns, tax declarations, and other required reports; maintaining tax records; and corresponding with external tax agencies or consultants. This role in summary The Tax Manager for LAR North will serve as a strategic leader responsible for the oversight and execution of the regional tax function. This role ensures total tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions and spearheads tax controversy strategies to protect the company’s interests. The manager will act as the primary point of contact for tax authorities, managing audits and complex requirements with precision. Beyond technical oversight, this position involves leading cross-functional teams across the region and providing critical back-office support to the global corporate headquarters, ensuring that regional financial data aligns with international reporting standards and corporate strategy. Your responsibilities will include 1. Tax Compliance & Financial Accuracy This pillar focuses on the "hands-on" precision required to maintain the company’s standing with local authorities. Monthly Tax Closings & Calculations: Ownership of the end-to-end process for calculating direct and indirect taxes. You will ensure that the tax provision in the financial statements is accurate and that all tax liabilities are recorded according to local statutory requirements. Analysis of Financial Operations: Reviewing complex business transactions (mergers, intercompany loans, or new product launches) to identify and mitigate potential tax impacts before they hit the balance sheet. 2. Strategic Corporate Reporting (Back Office) Acting as the vital link to the Global Head Office, ensuring transparency and adherence to international standards. Reporting to US Corporate: Translating local tax results into the format required by the parent company, ensuring that the LATAM region’s financial data is consolidated correctly. FIN 48 Reports (ASC 740-10): Identifying, documenting, and measuring "Uncertain Tax Positions." You will be responsible for evaluating technical merits and determining the appropriate reserves for potential tax risks. 3. Transfer Pricing & External Audit Managing the relationship with third-party experts and ensuring intercompany fairness. Transfer Pricing Compliance: Collaborating with specialists to ensure that all cross-border transactions between affiliates meet the "arm’s length" principle and are supported by robust local documentation. Attention to External Auditors (Big 4): Serving as an external audit firm's primary point of contact. You will manage the flow of information, justify tax positions, and ensure a smooth year-end audit process. 4. Regulatory Defense & Advisory Protecting the company from external changes and enforcement actions. Tax Authority Requirements: Directly managing responses to formal notifications, requests for information, and on-site audits. This requires a high level of technical legal knowledge to defend the company's filings. Adoption of Tax Reforms: Proactively analyzing new tax laws in the region and leading the implementation of necessary changes in ERP systems and business processes. Cross-Functional Support: Acting as an internal consultant for the Sales, Supply Chain, and HR departments to ensure their operations are tax-efficient and compliant. Education: Degree in Accounting; Master’s in Taxation preferred. Experience: 10+ years in tax roles, with at least 3 years in a regional leadership capacity within LATAM. Languages: Full professional proficiency in English (for corporate reporting). Audit Defense: Successful history of leading and closing tax audits with favorable outcomes (reducing penalties or successfully defending tax credits). Project Management: Experience leading a major project, such as an ERP tax implementation or a corporate legal entity restructuring. US Corporate Reporting: Direct experience reporting to a US-based Global VP of Tax, including participation in quarterly and year-end closings.
