OverviewWBD's "Record to Report (RTR) / Controller Senior Accountant" role delivers quality accounting services for Discovery entities in Mexico City.The position focuses on ensuring accurate month-end processes, SOX compliance, and timely reconciliation across the region.LocationPolanco, Mexico City – required to be in the office three days a week (specific days to be determined upon hire).ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post month-end journal entries, reconciling GL accounts and issuing IC invoices.Serve as the first reviewer for complex accruals and other manual journal entries, maintaining documentation and evidence of control approvals.Analyze monthly activity of assigned accounts, highlighting variances and differences in QTD and YTD analysis.Provide preliminary explanations for variances and share findings with the Accounting Manager for review.Analyze and reconcile assigned accounts, identifying improvement areas in supporting files and documentation.Implement approved changes to improve bank reconciliations, bank upload processes, and clearance of open items.Ensure completeness of close for appointed entities and improve processes through standardization and simplification.Lead closing process activities and ensure month-end accounting processes adhere to the month-end calendar.Support additional duties and responsibilities as requested by key stakeholders in the region.QualificationsDegree in Accounting.Minimum 3–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a US GAAP environment.Minimum 2 years of experience in SAP FI/CO, Blackline, and Cadency (preferred).Proficiency with MS Excel and advanced functions.Experience with SOX controls and ability to articulate key SOX controls in General Accounting.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and soft-skills.Experience working in a multinational/multicultural matrix organization.Agility, flexibility, analytical mindset, and problem-solving ability.Willingness to grow and take on additional tasks.Preferred BackgroundBig-4 public accounting experience and exposure to a captive Finance Shared Service Centre.Self-driven attitude and motivation to thrive in a fast-paced environment.RequirementsBilingual in English and Spanish.Legal right to work in Mexico.InclusionDiscovery embraces the opportunity to build a workforce that reflects diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.We are an equal-opportunity employer, considering qualified candidates on the basis of merit, without regard to sex, gender identity, ethnicity, age, disability, or other protected categories.#J-*****-Ljbffr
