In this role, you’ll take ownership of modernizing legacy Java components, upgrading frameworks, and ensuring the stability and scalability of mission‑critical backend services.This is a hands‑on role ideal for an engineer who enjoys upgrading systems, improving performance, and contributing directly to long‑term platform evolution.What you'll do:Collaborate with a small development team to maintain, enhance, and modernize backend systems.Lead the Java upgrade effort (from Java 7/8 to a modern version), including dependency and compatibility updates.Upgrade and optimize core frameworks including Hibernate, Spring, and related Java components.Write clean, maintainable, and efficient backend code that supports scalability and reliability.Support component refactoring, performance tuning, and stability improvements.Participate in code reviews, debugging sessions, and testing initiatives to ensure technical quality.Contribute within an agile‑minded environment and help maintain team velocity and alignment.What we're looking for:Strong hands‑on experience in backend Java development.Proficiency with JDK and backend architecture concepts.Extensive experience with Hibernate and the Spring Framework.Familiarity with Java EE / Jakarta EE, including RESTful web services.Proven experience performing software upgrades, refactoring, and dependency modernization.Hands‑on experience with Git or similar version control systems.Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, with a methodical approach to problem‑solving.Nice-to-Have:Experience modernizing legacy Java applications or migrating frameworks.Familiarity with agile methodologies.Background in EdTech or platform‑based products.Location: Mexico City Metropolitan Area #J-18808-Ljbffr
