About the Role As a Software Engineer in the Client Core Engineering (CCE) organization, you will contribute to the development and optimization of our web‑based Crunchyroll apps on desktop web, living‑room devices, and game consoles such as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. You will take ownership of key features and improvements, ensuring high‑quality code and performance, while collaborating with Engineering, Program Management, Product, and QA teams worldwide to shape our technology roadmap. Responsibilities Contribute to the design and implementation of software solutions for web‑based app development. Provide technical leadership to engineer teams, building and maintaining the underlying platform, framework, and developer experience. Collaborate on the definition and development of technical solutions that improve existing features and enhance architectural quality—optimizing performance, scalability, and user experience. Identify performance bottlenecks and propose and implement solutions to improve user experience or development efficiency. Maintain high coding standards and follow best practices in web development to foster a culture of engineering excellence. Participate in design and code reviews, offering constructive feedback and aligning on architectural strategies. Support a culture of operational excellence by focusing on efficient and maintainable engineering practices and by participating in the team’s on‑call rotation. Stay updated on industry trends and new web technologies, researching and comparing emerging tools and frameworks. About You — Required Qualifications Experience building consumer‑facing web applications that serve millions of global users. Track record of contributing to technology roadmaps and collaborating with product and program management. Committed to excellence in operations, delivery, and engineering practices. Experience collaborating with senior engineers and team leads to lead web‑development initiatives. Strong ability to balance trade‑offs between performance, scalability, and user experience. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field). Nice to Have Experience developing web‑based applications with frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js. Experience building web applications for resource‑constrained hardware across multiple form factors. Familiarity with frontend testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, and Selenium. Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as Sass or Less. Familiarity with build tools such as Webpack and Vite. Familiarity with backend technologies such as Node.js and RESTful APIs. Familiarity with video‑related technologies (HLS, DASH, HTML5 Video). Familiarity with OOP, SOLID, DRY, and TDD. Experience with Redux, MobX, or RxJS. Experience with Agile development methodologies.
