The CEO needs a numbers-first right hand who can turn messy inputs (revenue, payroll, ad spend, client performance) into clean financial truth and sharp insights. This role is for someone who lives comfortably inside spreadsheets, enjoys building dashboards that actually get used, and can walk a founder through the story behind the numbers without drowning them in jargon. 📊 What you’ll own Build and maintain weekly and monthly P&L reporting (gross profit, net profit, margins, trends). Track and reconcile client revenue, salaries/payroll paid, contractor costs, tools/software, and ad spend. Produce clear financial packets for leadership: weekly snapshots, monthly close, and trend analysis. Forecasting + Projections Create projections and cash planning (monthly and quarterly). Build models for scenario planning (growth, staffing changes, spend changes, churn). Identify risk early: margin compression, spend spikes, payroll creep, underperforming accounts. Client-Level Profitability + Unit Economics Calculate revenue per client, cost-to-serve, and profitability by client. Identify “good clients vs bad clients” using objective criteria (margin, payment reliability, support burden, performance). Define and monitor unit economics like acceptable cost per lead, contribution margin, and CAC/LTV assumptions (where trackable). Build dashboards that unify finance + performance: Revenue by client / service line Ad spend vs results Payroll allocation and headcount costs Margin by client and by month Cash runway and forecast Make reporting executive-friendly: accurate, fast, and decision-oriented. Weekly meeting with the CEO: present financials, insights, and recommended actions. Report up the chain with crisp, confident communication: “Here’s what changed, why it changed, and what we should do.” What success looks like (KPIs) Weekly financial reporting delivered on time, accurate, and decision-ready Clean P&L visibility with clear gross and net profit tracking Reliable monthly close process and documentation Client profitability visibility (top/bottom clients clearly identified) Forecast accuracy improving over time CEO time saved (you become the filter + truth layer) Required Experience Proven experience in a Financial Analyst / Senior Financial Analyst role (agency, services business, SaaS, or performance marketing strongly preferred). Strong command of expense categorization and payroll tracking, forecasting, projections, and variance analysis, advanced spreadsheet skills (Excel/Google Sheets). If you can build models that don’t collapse when someone sneezes, you’re our person. Ability to translate complex numbers into clear recommendations for leadership. Nice-to-Have Experience working with marketing agencies or businesses with ad spend as a major cost line Familiarity with QuickBooks / Xero (or similar accounting tools) Obsess over accuracy and can spot financial “weirdness” fast. Don’t just report numbers, you explain what they mean and what to do next. Are proactive: you surface insights before the CEO asks. Can work Monday to Saturday EST consistently.
