You will help develop self-service solutions and run a global EKS platform used by hundreds of engineers, to run thousands of applications, in turn used by hundreds of millions of consumers each month.About Cloud PlatformThe Cloud Platform team takes a software engineering approach to infrastructure and aims to build resilience and autonomy into the wider engineering org through knowledge sharing via pairing and the production of technical how-to guides.The Cloud team is based out of the UK, Spain, Portugal, US and Mexico, with hybrid working in office at all HQ locations. We work with hundreds of engineers from all teams that make up Condé Nast Engineering.What we’re solvingAs a group our goal is to provide a single, global, highly resilient platform enabling the business to deploy and run revenue driving applications and websites.On a high level we are responsible for:Providing a large-scale compute platform to serve global brand websites and the deployment of hundreds of applicationsDeveloping a self-service platform so our app engineers can operate efficiently and upskill quickly where neededAdvising on and reviewing application and infra architectureLeading on deployment workflows and strategiesCreating terraform modules for popular resourcesImproving security & resilienceProviding global github actions workflows as part of self-service toolingAdditional Duties & ResponsibilitiesBecome a subject matter expert across the platform, and help develop Cloud Engineering as a centre of excellenceFocus on cost efficiencyMonthly out of hours on-call support for the platforms we buildPair with application software engineering teams to advise on Terraform, deployments, architecture, cost optimizationImproving observability of applications, using monitoring, logging, tracing and alerting solutionsRaise the bar on all work and share best practicesAbout YouExperience working with Kubernetes in production. CKA or equivalent experienceStrong background in software development, having lead projects or workstreamsPython, Go, NodeJS, Java or other languagesExperienced with terraform, CI/CD - ideally Github Actions, CDNs and devops best practicesDeep understanding of software architecture and designInterest in security best practicesExperience building fault tolerant systems or running applications at scale, ideally using AWSYou enjoy pairing with engineers of all skill levelsGood communication skillsHow we workInfrastructure as Code everywhereYou’ll be working local office hoursPairing.
