**Career Area**:Purchasing & Procurement**:**At Caterpillar, the right materials matter.**It takes hundreds of thousands of different types of goods to build the products that build a better world: the raw materials that go into our equipment, the software we use to design it, the tooling we use to build it, even the office supplies we use to run our business.Acquiring those products—in the right place, at the right time, for the right cost and using the latest e-sourcing techniques—is the responsibility of our procurement team.This role could be a fit for you, if you're:- Motivated to achieve challenging goals- Accountable for delivering results- Skilled at negotiating with suppliers**JOB PURPOSE**:The Product Supply Network Engineer leads the design of the optimized Product Supply Network by integrating Product Group value chain strategies and targets for Response Time, Availability and Total Cost of Supply and leveraging GSND capabilities in transportation, packaging and inventory management.Focuses on leading the Total Cost of Supply analysis and Supply Network Modeling to ensure the engineered value chain achieves those targets, also leading and motivating a team that will support on this task.**JOB RELATED STATISTICS**:Business Partner Budget/Revenue: $2-5BMarket Complexity:Highof Products/Categories: Generally Greater Than 2of Supplier Locations: Greater than 20**JOB DUTIES**:Major Role: To design the optimized Product Supply Network in collaboration with the Product Group and other necessary process partners through the Total Cost of Supply process.They lead the Total Cost of Supply analyses and network design and improvement projects, ensure PFEP reflects the engineered value chain, and participate as team member for inbound and outbound logistics planning projects for their area of responsibility.For this role, you will lead a team of (5) Supply Network Specialists focused on ACM Mexico Supply Chain Localization strategy.Reporting directly to the ACM Mexico Supply Chain Manager, this role will undertake specific Product purchasing responsibility and accountability.It will support the implementation of Localization strategies while collaborating to align the Category management supply strategies that will create a competitive advantage for our customers by developing, optimizing, and integrating a world-class supply network.Strategy - Through a strong knowledge of the product, NPI, and Category Strategies the incumbent will sponsor, support and participate in both product and ACM Supply Chain initiates.Drive supply network collaboration for enhancing Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) efforts and/or creating valued new services by leveraging their leading technologies and business knowledge.Customers - Manage Product expectations for Global Supply Network, to deliver benefits required to sustain a competitive advantage.The role will require a good communicator capable of keeping the customer and Global Supply Network fully informed of progress and working closely with both to ensure all requirements are met.This role will interface with the local Product management to ensure alignment of strategies and manage expectations.**BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE**:- Bachelor degree- Previous purchasing experience of 3-5 years required- Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g.; Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM), or comparable international certification is preferred.- Affiliation with Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), or comparable professional purchasing organization, preferred.- Proficiency in English is required; Local site language preferred- Previous 6 Sigma Greenbelt/Black Belt experience preferred- Facility with lean manufacturing, an understanding of lean principles is preferred- Previous cost modeling experience preferred- Incumbent must have well-developed communication and negotiation skills**All qualified individuals - Including minorities, females, and individuals with disabilities - are encouraged to apply.****Final details**Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO).Not ready to apply?Submit your information to our Talent Network here.
