Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer at Scale Army Careers Location: Fully Remote | 9 AM - 5 PM EST About the role Our client is building a scalable platform that supports complex e-commerce and telehealth workflows. Their product runs on a Rails monolith and powers patient onboarding, transactional systems, subscriptions, and internal tools, with a strong emphasis on clean architecture and solid data modeling. They’re looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to work closely with a Senior Engineer / Tech Lead, owning features end‑to‑end within the monolith. This role is key to maintaining a clean, scalable codebase while supporting critical healthcare and commerce flows as the platform grows. What You’ll Do Build and ship full‑stack features within a Ruby on Rails monolith. Develop and maintain patient onboarding, carts, checkouts, orders, and subscription flows. Contribute to data modeling, schema design, and architectural discussions. Use Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus) to deliver responsive, server‑driven user experiences. Own features from concept to production, including testing and iteration. What You Bring 5+ years of professional engineering experience, with strong Ruby on Rails exposure. Hands‑on experience building transactional systems such as payments, orders, or subscriptions. Solid data modeling fundamentals and comfort working across the full stack. Experience integrating APIs and handling webhooks. Clear communication skills and comfort collaborating in a fast‑moving team. This role offers the chance to work deeply within a production Rails monolith while gaining exposure to complex e-commerce and telehealth systems. You’ll partner closely with senior engineering leadership, take real ownership of features, and grow your architectural and domain‑modeling skills as the platform scales.
