The SMT Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining all Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes to ensure safe, reliable, and high‑quality electronic assembly operations. This role strengthens production performance by implementing robust process controls, improving equipment capability, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across SMT lines. The engineer will support daily operations, NPI launches, equipment reliability, and the technical development of the maintenance team while ensuring full compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Responsibilities Drive SMT process performance to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. Develop, optimize, and sustain SMT process documentation, machine programs, and process windows. Conduct installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance coordination for SMT equipment. Perform advanced problem diagnostics, failure analysis, and structured root cause analysis (RCA) to resolve equipment, process, and quality issues. Develop and execute corrective and preventive actions to ensure long‑term process stability. Lead troubleshooting efforts during line stoppages, yield loss events, and inspection failures. Participate in engineering reviews to define SMT requirements, tooling needs, and process qualifications. Coordinate maintenance activities and ensure SMT equipment reliability and uptime. Lead, guide, and develop a team of approximately 10 maintenance technicians, promoting technical growth and high performance. Support and maintain key quality engineering deliverables. Qualifications Direct experience with Panasonic AX5 / Assembleon-Fuji / Yamaha SMT platforms. Strong skills in problem diagnosis, failure analysis, RCA, and process control. Experience supporting PFMEA, Control Plans, and APQP requirements. Experience installing, calibrating, and maintaining SMT equipment, printers, reflow ovens (BTU), AOI/SPI systems.
