Responsibility Overview As an R&D Buyer Planner you will: Support the Supply Chain Planning Family by developing entry‑level procurement skills directly associated with the timely planning of Development Project materials, tooling services, and planning schedules. Establish a skill set and ability to analyze and define inventory levels. Execute timely project procurement, planning, and scheduling of material receipt/services. Demonstrate proficiency in SRM Ariba system procurement. Support annual Cost of Goods (COGs) for New Product Introduction (NPI). Create and submit first‑time buys, review dispositions, Prototype Engineering Change Notices (PECNs), and Production Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Maintain data that affects Material Requirements Planning (MRP) output such as lead‑time, minimum orders, lot sizes, and safety stock. Review non‑conforming material and manage material movement through warehouse processes. Execute material movements internally and externally. Initiate new part setup, secure and analyze quotes, and initiate purchase orders, amendments for parts, services, or tools. Open work orders within established guidelines and communicate issues to internal stakeholders. Reconcile invoices in a timely manner and follow guidance from Senior Level Buyer/Planners for day‑to‑day tasks. WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON Mechatronics, Chemical, Industrial Engineering or a bachelor’s degree in administration. 1 year of experience or less of directly related experience. Good communication skills, proactive, dynamic, empathetic, and fast learning. Basic SAP and/or Ariba System knowledge. Good written and verbal English skills.
