Vice President of Operations Location: Cuautitlán, State of MexicoIndustry: Automotive ManufacturingScope: 5 manufacturing plants – MexicoReporting to: Chief Executive Officer / Board of Directors POSITION OVERVIEW The Vice President of Operations is a senior executive responsible for the full operational and financial performance of a five-plant manufacturing footprint in Mexico for a global automotive joint venture. This role carries full P&L accountability, and is responsible for driving operational excellence, financial discipline, customer performance, and organizational capability across all sites. The VP of Operations will lead plant leaders, functional heads, and corporate operations teams to ensure world‑class execution in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement, while supporting the strategic objectives of the joint‑venture partners. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Leadership Provide strategic and day‑to‑day leadership for all five manufacturing plants in Mexico. Ensure world‑class performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale (SQDCM). Drive standardization, best‑practice sharing, and operating discipline across all facilities. Lead capacity planning, footprint optimization, and capital investment decisions. P&L and Financial Performance Full responsibility for the Mexico operations P&L, including revenue, margins, cost structure, and cash flow. Develop and execute annual operating plans, budgets, and multi‑year financial forecasts. Identify and deliver cost‑reduction and productivity improvement initiatives while protecting quality and customer service. Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with joint‑venture governance. Customer & Commercial Performance Ensure flawless execution of customer commitments to global OEMs and Tier‑1 customers. Lead operational readiness for new product launches, transfers, and ramp‑ups. Support commercial teams in pricing, contract negotiations, and operational feasibility assessments. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement Deploy and sustain lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operational excellence systems across all plants. Drive continuous improvement in OEE, scrap, labor productivity, inventory turns, and on‑time delivery. Establish performance dashboards and rigorous operating reviews. Leadership & Talent Development Build a strong leadership bench across plant managers, engineering, supply chain, quality, and finance. Drive a high‑performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Lead succession planning and leadership development across the organization. Governance & Joint‑Venture Management Operate within the governance structure of the joint venture, aligning operational execution with shareholder objectives. Prepare and present operational and financial results to the Board and JV partners. Ensure compliance with corporate, legal, regulatory, and ESG standards. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business; MBA or advanced degree preferred. 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in automotive or Tier‑1 manufacturing environments. Proven experience leading multi‑plant operations with full P&L responsibility. Strong background in high‑volume manufacturing, preferably including stamping, machining, assembly, or electronics. Demonstrated success driving lean transformation and operational excellence at scale. Experience working in joint‑venture or multinational corporate environments is strongly preferred.
