Accounting Assistant Job DescriptionAbout UsWe are a US-based company providing nearshoring staffing solutions to lower operational costs without compromising company culture.Job OverviewThis entry-level accounting assistant role assists with daily financial transactions, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end close activities in mortgage finance operations.Main Responsibilities- Record and classify financial transactions related to mortgage operations.- Support preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor escrow and trust accounts.- Process payments to vendors, investors, and third parties.- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and subledgers.- Support audits and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.- Track and reconcile loan funding, payoffs, and servicing entries.Requirements and Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (completed or in progress).- 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred, ideally in the mortgage, banking, or financial services industry.- Familiarity with basic accounting principles and GAAP.- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
