Job DescriptionSenior Construction Manager - Caribbean Hotel Development at Turner & TownsendProject location: Las BahamasWe are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic construction manager to oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion. This professional is responsible for coordinating and supervising construction, developing and delivering an overall construction strategy, reviewing the project to schedule deliverables and estimate costs. The construction manager will hire and manage subcontractors and staff and provide input or prepare and submit budgets, as needed. This role includes planning, organizing, scheduling, directing and controlling the delivery of construction, overseeing all onsite and offsite construction to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations. The construction manager must maximize value, protect the client’s reputation, mitigate risks, manage interfaces, and ensure required project controls are in place.ResponsibilitiesOversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion, coordinating and supervising construction activities.Develop and deliver the project construction strategy; review project plans to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.Hire and manage subcontractors and staff; prepare and submit budgets as needed.Plan, organize, schedule, direct and control construction delivery; monitor compliance with building and safety regulations onsite and offsite.Ensure value is maximized, client reputation is protected, risks are mitigated, interfaces are managed, and appropriate project controls are in place.QualificationsEducation/Experience:Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a construction manager, with experience leading a team on construction sites.Engineering degree with chartered status.Experience delivering industrial, commercial base building and fit-out projects for retail/shopping malls.Understanding of the engineering and construction industry from technical and commercial perspectives.Knowledge of up-to-date design developments, statutory regulations, codes of practice and industry standards in construction.Fluent in English and Spanish.PMI certification is a plus.Skills and Qualifications:Provide discipline support and client representation to package managers during design, supply, installation and commissioning phases.Approve/sign off all construction-related plans and decisions across all packages.Review contractor designs for compliance with statutory, contractual, safety and environmental requirements; ensure safe, efficient, and effective construction.Identify design changes due to contract variations and notify project and package managers in a timely manner.Implement and adhere to the project quality plan within the area of responsibility.Highlight technical queries/disputes regarding contractor documentation and assist in resolution.Ensure adequate design safety risk assessments are conducted and actions are closed out as appropriate.Provide technical input to the project quality plan; support engineering and operations & maintenance managers on construction issues.Provide technical and commercial input into construction plans supplied by contractors.Analytical skills to plan strategies, investigate cost variances, and solve problems.Business skills to prepare and monitor project budgets, hire/manage staff, and coordinate with other teams.Strong communication skills to clearly convey information orally and in writing to owners, clients, and on-site personnel.Decision-making to select personnel and subcontractors and ensure deadlines and budgets are met.Leadership to delegate tasks and ensure timely project completion; strong technical knowledge of construction concepts, contracts and drawings.Additional InformationWe are an equal opportunity employer.
