make a difference and grow with usOur BrandsThe Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner focuses clinical practice on the promotion of optimal mental health, and the prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders.This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and medication management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders for clients involved in other HCA behavioral health services.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesObtain and accurately document a relevant mental health history that includes evaluation of mental status, current and history of abuse, violence, suicidal or self-harm behavior, substance use, level of functioning, health behaviors, trauma, sexual behaviors, and social/developmental historyDevelop a plan of care for psychiatric disorders based on evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelinesPrescribe psychotropic medications based on clinical indicators of a patient's status, including results of diagnostic and lab tests as appropriate, to treat symptoms of psychiatric disordersDocument all relevant client care issues in clients' progress notes and treatment planSubmit Prior Authorization requests for medications, as neededEducate and assist the client in evaluating pharmacotherapy options, intended effects and potential adverse effects, as well as other treatment optionsCollaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary team and involve clients, family members, and interdisciplinary team members in gathering information and planning treatmentManage psychiatric issues or emergencies that arise between clinic days by determining the level of risk and recommending appropriate interventions or responsesAdvise treatment team on the transition of care to provide continuity of care and support for the client, family, and other health care providers, in the least restrictive manner possibleProvide psychoeducation to individuals, families, and groups to promote knowledge, understanding, and effective management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders.Other Duties & ResponsibilitiesRequired qualifications for this position include an M.D., N.P., or P.A. designation with a
