Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.
This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network.
The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data, and voice communications.
The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments, and individuals for their own use.
Role PurposeLead and/or direct engineering resources in the development and improvement of processes and equipment.
Achieve low cost manufacturing, superior quality/service and improved capability/capacity.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and/or direct engineering resources in the development and improvement of processes and equipment.Manage and coordinate multiple project leaders to deliver on key plant objectives.Manage and communicate status of key engineering initiatives that drive manufacturing performance.Build effective relationships with division engineering, division manufacturing, and commercial (as necessary) in support of execution of the plant engineering strategy.Provide focus and direction to direct reports to ensure professional development.Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP); assist in definition of new IP.Develop technical capabilities in engineering organization.Champion use of scientific method to determine and resolve process upset root cause and increase process fundamental understanding within department.Ensure effective process and equipment change control management.Experiences/Education - Required7+ years of experience in manufacturing industries.4+ years of experience in leadership roles.Advanced English.Master of Science (Engineering or Technical).Experience across multiple organizations/plants.Knowledge of manufacturing accounting and control.Knowledge of manufacturing excellence tools (AME, KT, Lean).Experience with industrial labor relations (union facilities).Experience with cross-functional collaboration.Corning Puts YOU First
