Job Summary:
As a Tax Goddess Technical Tax Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for addressing and resolving discrepancies in client tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). You will serve as a liaison between clients and the IRS, ensuring that any issues or discrepancies are promptly and accurately addressed. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, pleasant accurate and calming customer service skills, and a thorough understanding of tax regulations and procedures (we will train on complex cases).
**Responsibilities**:
- Conduct follow-up calls to clients regarding discrepancies or issues identified in their tax returns by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
- Communicate with clients in a professional and empathetic manner, addressing their concerns and providing guidance on the steps needed to resolve tax discrepancies.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary information and documentation to address IRS inquiries or audits.
- Liaise with the IRS on behalf of clients, including submitting documentation, responding to inquiries, and advocating for timely resolution of tax discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of all communications and actions taken regarding client tax discrepancies, ensuring proper documentation and progress tracking.
- Provide updates to clients on the status of their IRS follow-up process, including any developments or additional requirements.
- Assist clients in understanding IRS notices, letters, and communications, explaining their implications and guiding them through the appropriate response process.
- Work closely with Tax Goddess team members, including tax professionals and support staff, to coordinate efforts and ensure a seamless client experience.
- Stay informed about changes to tax laws, regulations, and IRS procedures relevant to client tax discrepancies, updating knowledge and skills as needed.
- Uphold confidentiality and security protocols when handling sensitive client information and communicating with the IRS.
- The pivotal part of this role is to ensure that the “Technical Tax Customer Service Representative - IRS Caller” thrives for the team and the Manager/HOD.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience of at least 3 years in customer service, preferably in a law firm, CPA firm, Financial Advisory, or similar environment in a remote setting.
- Strong understanding of tax regulations, IRS procedures, and tax return preparation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts clearly and understandably.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy, patience, and professionalism when interacting with clients and IRS representatives.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to accurately review and analyze tax documents and correspondence.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with IRS systems and processes for resolving tax discrepancies is preferred.
- Willingness to adapt to changes in procedures, regulations, and technology to deliver high-quality customer service.
