**ABOUT US**

BlueMX is a non-profit civil association focusing on the conservation and restoration of mangrove ecosystems in partnership with local landowners, ejidos, and government agencies. BlueMX project areas are located throughout Mexico, from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean. BlueMX is the project implementation partner for the BlueMX: Restoring Mangroves in Mexico's Blue Carbon Ecosystems project. The project is one of the world’s largest and most ambitious mangrove reforestation and restoration projects and is delivering impact across four Mexican states: Campeche, Nayarit, Quintana Roo and Veracruz.

**POSITION DETAILS**

Title: Managing Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Level: 4 (C-suite)

Division: Executive

Location: Mexico, with a preference for San Francisco de Campeche (Campeche City), Campeche or Tecuala, Nayarit. Mexico City or Playa del Carmen may also be considered.

**ABOUT THE POSITION**

The Managing Director (MD) leads the entire executive, operational, financial, legal, governance and human resource functions of BlueMX and will be accountable for implementing the project’s on-ground activities on time and on budget. In addition to leading and mentoring a dedicated team of staff, the role works closely with external contractors, service providers, suppliers, community landowners (Ejidos) and private landowners and state and federal government departments.

**PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS**

**Leadership**
- Supervise, mentor, and support a staff team of regional office staff comprised of finance and accounting, operations, field work and community engagement
- Led the senior management group, contributing to organisational planning and decision making
- Collaborate effectively with external stakeholders (i.e., government departments, local communities, and technical/science service providers)

**Financial**
- Oversee financial management and budgeting
- Work with financial staff, external partners and donors to establish forward operating budgets for conservation and restoration work program
- Oversee insurance and government compliance

**Occupational Health and Safety**
- Oversee the development and annual reviews of Standard Operating Procedures and Organizational Policies related to OHS, asset procurement and management, travel and field operations and staff safety.
- Oversee organisational risk registry and risk management procedures.
- Lead regular internal audits and oversee corrective actions for all Standard Operating Procedures and Organizational Policies.
- Establish and oversee incidents and reporting systems including Board reports.
- Drive a culture of organisational health and safety and zero tolerance to illegal and unsafe work practices.
- Lead the development of staff training on related standard operating procedures and organizational policies, including for first aid and emergency response Office management
- Oversee regional office managers and provide support for these managers to ensure all general administrative, property, functional and legal duties are carried out.

**CANDIDATE PROFILE**

**ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA**
- The legal right and willingness to live and work in Mexico.
- Advanced proficiency in Spanish and English (ILR Scale Level 4 or higher for both)
