**Music Analyst
This position is responsible for analyzing music recordings and creating descriptive information that is used to train machine learning systems.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Category Research**

Using various reference sources, and their own music expertise and knowledge, propose new and useful music categories. These might include genres, styles, moods, instrumentation types, lyrical themes, activities and the like.

**Category Definition**

Write definitions of each music genre, style, mood etc. category. describing its unique sonic characteristics. Create lists of “near-neighbor” classes and representative artists for each category.

**Curation Research**

**Curation Management**

Maintain accurate listings of curated items and their attributes.

**Media Procurement**

Perform complex searches to locate and procure specific recordings needed for addition to the media library.

**Media Library Management**

Ensure that the media library always contains a complete, de-duplicated and properly labeled set of all curated content.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education & Experience**:

- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Music, Musicology, Media Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in music / video editorial, programming, curation, and / or data development.
- Experience in the digital media and consumer media services is a plus.

**Skills & Knowledge**:

- First-class, deep musicological and music-cultural knowledge across all contemporary and legacy genres of global music.
- Finely developed critical listening skills with ability to isolate relevant qualitative aspects of sound recordings.
- Domain knowledge of global film and television genres, both mainstream and long-tail is a plus.
- Knowledge of structured metadata and information architecture principles is a plus.
- Understanding of video and audio analysis, data mining and semantic technologies is a plus.
- Top-notch analytical and problem-solving skills required. Strong editorial skills and attention to detail required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills especially in terms of articulately describing entertainment media characteristics.
- Spreadsheet skills
- English fluency
