**Job Description**:
CGG’s Geology team is looking for an experienced Petroleum Geologist to work within an integrated team based at CGG’s office in Villahermosa, Mexico. Working collaboratively with other specialist disciplines within CGG, the individual will play an integral part in delivering a technically excellent result to our client. The key product deliverable will include a full regional to block-scale interpretation and prospectivity evaluation leading to a risked and ranked portfolio of new prospects.

**Principal Accountabilities**
- Responsible for undertaking, managing, and delivering technically excellent subsurface work in line with CGG corporate standards and industry best practice.
- Work collaboratively and support other disciplines to guarantee that data and interpretations are delivered so that each task is completed in a timely manner.
- Coach / mentor peers and junior staff regarding the effective use of geological tools and best-practice workflows to assess prospectivity.
- Collaborating closely with the client as required throughout the duration of projects.
- Present findings in written reports and verbal presentations to client.
- May provide training to clients in their discipline of expertise.

**Technical Skills**
- Can manage and load well logs and other geological data into project as needed.
- Thorough understanding of downhole logs and petrophysical measurements. Ability to liaise with petrophysical specialists to ensure that necessary data and calculations are integrated into impactful cross sections and maps.
- Expert knowledge of Play Based Exploration concepts - ability to incorporate all available data into products needed to identify new plays and prospects.
- Solid proficiency in well cross section generation and mapping software - preferably Landmark DecisionSpace or Petrel.
- Demonstrated understanding of salt geometries, processes, and interpretation strategies.
- Understands depositional processes. Can map distribution of reservoirs and seals from a variety of settings: fluvial, deepwater, carbonates, etc. and incorporate understanding into a series of Gross Depositional Environment maps.
- Solid knowledge of geochemistry & Petroleum Systems. Can collate pertinent data, and work with PSA specialists to generate more complex 2D and 3D basin models.
- Understands and can quantify Geologic Risk and Uncertainty
- Knowledgeable in appropriate ranges and parameter selection to use in probabilistic volumetric calculations, utilizing appropriate software such as GeoX, Rose and Associates MMRA, or REP.
- Robust ArcGIS mapping skills

In addition to the above any or all of the following skills would be strongly preferred:

- Ability to streamline work using Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence
- Plate tectonic reconstruction
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D seismic interpretation and mapping
- Basin modelling

**Qualifications**:

- BSc in an Earth Science discipline, preferably with an additional MSc or PhD
- 10+ years’ experience in an E&P Operating company or Petroleum Geoscience consultancy
- 5+ years’ experience working in Mexico or the Gulf of Mexico. Pertinent experience in other salt basins may be considered.
- Proven track record of success in quantifying and finding hydrocarbons
- Demonstrated ability to work at all scales from regional to block to detailed prospect.
- Demonstrated success working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience delivering high quality technical presentations to management, partner companies and other stakeholders.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
