They perform a “regulatory” Correlation oversight role related to product planning/budgeting, IP, data privacy, visual identity, doctrinal accuracy, and research for all area employees and volunteers involved with publishing, messaging, and other Correlation functions. To do this effectively, they must be “taken seriously” by other area staff members, including area directors, and viewed as a representative of the Correlation Committee (the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve) and the area presidency.

Supervise and ensure that
- All production work in the area is done under a certified product plan.
- Area product plans are updated, and any associated budget requests are submitted to the Correlation Department for certification so they can be funded in a timely manner.
- All publishing projects are reviewed to ensure clearly defined audience(s), purpose(s), and goal(s), and success measure(s) before production begins.
- All individual production deliverables (e.g., videos, pamphlets, and social media posts) have a Publishing Deliverable #.
- The area presidency is adequately supported in reviewing and responding to the annual product language survey from Correlation.
- Products categorized as high priority by the First Presidency and Twelve receive production priority from area translation resources.
- The Church’s research policy found in the General Handbook (38.8.40) is followed in the area.
- Correlation Research is consulted when there is a desire for research information in the area.
- Area-created products and projects are designed and developed with appropriate formative research, as needed.
- Area-created products and projects are evaluated with appropriate summative research, as needed.
- Correlation Research approves in advance any units, leaders, members, missionaries, or other before they are asked to participate in research.
- Local research contractors and vendors are properly hired and supervised.
- Correlation Research has any needed area support when conducting Church-Headquarters-sponsored research in the area.
- All content produced by an area goes through an appropriate doctrinal evaluation review before it is published.
- All the area Doctrinal Evaluation Reviewers are called and set apart by the area presidency and properly trained.
- The area presidency has a resource that can, at their request, reach out to the Correlation Department in Salt Lake City with any difficult doctrinal questions that may arise when reviewing materials.
- All intellectual property assets used in the area are either 1) owned by the Church or 2) the Church obtains permissions to use them.
- All area-created content is identified as coming from the Church in accordance with the Global Visual Style Guide.
- Known misuse or infringement of Church intellectual property is reported to Correlation Intellectual Property.
- No information is gathered or stored about individuals in a way that violates the data privacy policies of the Church.
- Any suspected or actual unauthorized access, loss, or misuse of personal data is reported to the Church.
- Any requests received from individuals for access to or erasure of their personal data are submitted to the Data Privacy Office.
- Area systems storing personal data complete a regular privacy-risk assessment.
