**Job Description Summary**:
The Credit Underwriting Analyst for our Global Portfolio Management Team will perform the review on the merchant and take risk mitigation measures as per the risk management strategy and framework to mitigate losses. The Credit Underwriting Analyst will articulate recommendations and assessment drivers to stakeholders as needed.

Communicate and follow up with merchant and validate financial documents.

Estimate financial exposures to PayPal from sellers, using reasonable assumptions, and assess the need for and extent of risk mitigation measures.

Analyze and interpret financial statements, developing a view of the merchants’ financial health and its implications to PayPal’s risk and seller relationships.

Analyze and interpret merchant & industry business models, credit reports, merchant processing history, internal PayPal data, background investigations, bank, and trade references, etc. developing a view on their impact to PayPal risk and seller relationships.

Conduct merchant assessments in view of PayPal Acceptable Uses, Federal and State Regulatory Compliance, Credit Card Compliance and Legal Considerations.

Develop a holistic point of view on assessed merchants, proposing appropriate recommendations for mitigating PayPal’s risk, and managing seller experience.

In your day-to-day role you will

Clearly articulate the recommendations and assessment drivers to stakeholders as needed (ex: risk management teams, business units, PayPal merchants, etc.). Communicate professionally and effectively with cross-functional stakeholders throughout.

Maintain accurate and thorough documentation and audit trails of underwriting assessments, reports, methodologies, etc. in a timely manner.

Ensure appropriate escalation to, and follow up with, internal departments and management on issues that may arise.

Provide feedback on data, tools, and assessments for continuous improvement, along with on-going development of policies, products, tools, and procedures for process enhancement.

**What do you need to bring**:
Bachelors Degree and/or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related fields, (Master’s Degree preferred)

2+ year of credit underwriting or credit risk assessment experience

Be experienced in financial statement analysis, financial modeling and/or valuation.

Be comfortable with complex data and analytics to draw meaningful insights.

Be a team player, with strong interpersonal & communication skills, both written and verbal

Be highly curious and thoughtful - a proactive self-starter with a sense of urgency and bias for action, un a fast-paced environment.

Be familiar with MS Office, Salesforce, internet research & database tools. SQL is a plus, but not essential.

Must be fluent in English (verbal and written) and fluency of any additional languages like Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean or German would be an added advantage.
