Overview:
Ellucian is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Java, Grails, PL/SQL, Oracle, Postgres). You will engage in the full development life cycle. If you have a strong Aptitude and Attitude to learn new technologies, we are looking forward to talking to you.

- Design, develop, test, and implement high quality enterprise software, as a member of a creative, agile development team creating solutions that exceed customer expectations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced delivery focused environment

- Support customer adoption of new solutions
- Engage in continuous learning and adoption of new concepts, technologies, and functionality

- Actively participate within agile development ceremonies (sprint reviews, planning, scrums)
- Frequently learn new technologies/libraries/concepts and share knowledge with your colleagues
- Present information with confidence at team meetings
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Tech Lead, and Architects to determine the optimum user interface design, workflow, and functionality of software products
- Provide coaching and mentoring to junior developers
- Support, maintain, and document software functionality.
- Research new technologies/tools and suggest design/code improvements. Able to work across more than one layer of technology stack.

**What you will bring**
- 7+ years of professional software development experience
- Degree in computer science, software engineering or similar course of study
- Highly motivated self-starter with advanced capability to quickly learn, and work with new technologies and complex technical environments, including a variety of databases and operating systems.
- Expertise in Oracle, Grails, Java, Hibernate, JPA, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Proficiency with Java, J2EE, SQL
- Experienced in REST, JSON, XML, and asynchronous communication (e.g., queues, topics, streams)
- Experience with Agile software development practices such as XP, Lean Agile, Scrum, and Kanban
- Working knowledge of GIT and collaborative development practices (e.g., Pull Requests, feature branches)
- Well versed in Object Oriented Design and Principles
- Understanding of basic Linux and command line usage
- Demonstrated ability to author highly readable code
- Experienced with Integration Tests and Test-Driven Development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Demonstrated ability for critical thinking and problem solving
