TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

**What your background should look like**:
**As a Tactical Buyer, a typical day may include**:

- Review of ERP System (SAP) in modules such as Purchasing and PP
- Review and release material purchase orders to cover requirements and support customer demand while maintaining inventory levels within target while maintaining capacity load of machinery
- Review and execute exception codes for planned or released purchase orders since they indicate a situation that need an action to prevent inventory excess or shortage
- Plan and execute SAP customer order blocks with established frequency to maintain STR performance within goal and avoid past dues
- Execute and analyze material planning reports and understand when to deviate from or follow recommended actions to support requirements
- Take ownership and create resolution to meet requirements with little to no Manager involvement and follow appropriate escalation process to communicate risk depending on degree of impact
- Review and analyze Engineering changes and follow procedures for proper disposition
- Identify areas of improvement and implement preventive and corrective actions in the supply chain area
- More activities can be assigned by supervisor or manager as they are required to comply with the job role
- Aid VSM and Materials Manager in achievement of performance targets, including delivery (STR), inventory value, and cost avoidance/cost reduction
- Perform tasks following Standard Work to ensure position requirements are executed according to plan

**General requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related business degree
- 3-5 years of experience in Tactical Purchasing
- Understanding of Lean Concepts (Standard Work, Visual Management, KanBan, 5S, etc.) through PDCA
- Extensive knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

**Nice to have**:

- Background working with manufacturing and supply chain principles
- Ability to multi-task, remain highly organize, and thrive in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
