Position Summary:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
He/she will be responsible for the delivery of designs and the proper development of products, as well as guide the activities of other mechanical design engineers, per the direction of the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

- Develop advanced product designs in cooperation with the appropriate engineering disciplines and technicians according to customer and federal regulations and specifications.
- Support RFQ, Complex Design Projects, Mechanical Architecture definitions or Development of Design Platforms with many contributors, identifying and ensuring successful delivery for projects under his/her scope of responsibility.
- Use CATIA Version 5 (Revision 20 or higher) CAD software at a highly skilled level to develop product concepts of Harman International wearables, wireless integrated connectivity modules and components.
- Create and/or support the creation of detailed 3D models, assembly, or component drawings of product designs.
- Create and/or support tolerance stack-up analysis for wearables and a wireless connectivity modules and components and its vehicle-mounting interface.
- Analyze wireless/ modules or assemblies and their subcomponents with consideration to:
1.Customer requirements and supplier capabilities.

2.Cost and timing to ensure manufacturability, efficiency, and quality.
- Utilize software tools such as FEA, Floefd or mold flow analysis to confirm design integrity
- Uses analysis techniques such as the DFMEA and/or DRBFM to identify and assess design and manufacturing risks. Develops plans to validate the robustness and ergonomics of product designs.
- Travel to Harman, customer, or supplier facilities, as necessary.
- Stay current on innovative manufacturing processes to facilitate optimal product design using DFA and/or Design for Assembly & Manufacturing methodology.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for customer and/or internal use, as necessary.
- Create, support, or release the appropriate engineering documentation.
- Investigate and analyze appropriate data to verify intent and compliance of design to customer and government specifications and requirements.
- As required, direct, provide leadership, mentor, and monitor the activities of less experienced mechanical design engineers, as required by the departmental manager.
- Communicates openly and organizes technical discussions as needed and as required by Mechanical Engineering Manager.
- Coordinate with SME (Subject Matter Experts), HW (Hardware), SW (Software) internal design reviews to ensure that new product designs are compliant to Mechanical Design Development process, ‘Best Practices’ and ‘Lessons Learned’ requirements.
- Authority: this position has the authority granted by the company through this document to make decisions for the benefit of the company and ensure the conformity of the product, quality, functionality, and security of whoever participate in the process.

- Work experience beyond the minimum experience requirement may be an acceptable substitute for engineering degree.
- Experience:

- 4-6 years in OEM automotive product design, including:

- Design and Engineering of injection-molded plastic components
- Design and Engineering of stamped sheet metal and Diecast Aluminum components
- Design and engineering of light-weight wearables
