MLE (Mill Lining Engineering) Designer is responsible for the creation of manufacturing drawings for products which belong to the Mill Lining Business Line in accordance with the corresponding CNS Engineering Tools, Skega Mill Lining Product and Engineering Specification and other design guidelines. This position is also responsible for supporting in design analysis, including moulds design, mould improving’s, and products and moulds safe handling according to Health and Safety Environment policies.

MLE Designer follows the customer solutions and designs from the Business Line by performing complex hands-on support and drafting work and performs calculations for the making of engineering and production drawings for products and tooling required for the manufacturing of rubber / steel /aluminum composite wear resistant items in the Rubber and PolyMet (RuPo) manufacturing units of MO.

Essential Functions

Reports to the local MLE Supervisor and works towards completion of product and mould designs in a timely manner and error free.
Applies engineering knowledge, principles, and best practices to meet requirements and specifications of MLE.
Supports the MLE team members on out of ordinary design activities to better the performance of the team.
Undertakes other MLE work-related duties as may be assigned by the MLE Supervisor or other management personnel.

Job

**Responsibilities**:
Design sketches and preliminary layouts in Inventor.
Making of drawings of finished products.
Creation of material numbers in Teamcenter and the correlated input of Master Data, BoM´s and Routings in SAP.
Drafting of assembly drawings of the products manufactured in the RUPO manufacturing facilities, as well as mould assemblies.
Requisition of goods required for the manufacturing of new engineering releases.
Revision of own and other´s drawings for corrections in accordance with stablished specifications.
Harmonization of descriptions for the materials used in the various product hierarchies.
Cost requests and input in SAP for newly created material numbers.
Creation and/or modifications of Genera Assembly drawings for different equipment including Parts List.
Proper updates of GA and PL in Fileit and corresponding information distribution to the stakeholders.
Analyzes and drafts fixings between molds, upper fixing plates, lower fixing plates for a safe placement on the platens of our presses.
Applies the principles of the technical training received for molds, reinforcements and products handling in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering personnel.

Works on the requests for change notes when issued by production personnel.

Assistance for the training of new MLE members.

Other Duties

Frequent (daily) field trips and Gemba walks to the RUPO plant and offices to review moulds and mould assemblies, production process and quality inspections. Also, some visits may be needed to steel fabricators or other vendor´s facilities to inspect raw materials and/or finished goods.

Occasional trips to customer´s sites for training, sales support, installation guidance and engineering support.

Main (daily) relationship with MLE Supervisors and MLE Master Data personnel.
Main (daily) relationship with other MLE Designers and MLE NCA Manager.
Strong relationship with Manufacturing Engineering personnel.
Strong relationship with Planning personnel.
Strong relationship with Procurement and QA personnel.
Strong relationship with Pressing and Rubber Covering personnel.
Strong relationship with Mould Assembly personnel.
Strong relationship with Systems personnel.
Strong relationship with Mill Lining Product Support, Technical Sales Support, Sales, and Service personnel.

Supervisory Responsibility

Assistance to check other´s drawings is needed to release the drawings in the system.

Travel

Up to 20% of travel out of the city limits may be required for this position. Travel could be needed outside of the country.

**Qualifications**:
**Education/Training**:
Bachelor’s degree in science, preferably Mechanical, Electrical-Mechanical, or Industrial engineering.
Local spoken and written language 100%.
English language, spoken and written 75% minimum.

**Experience**:
Engineering experience desired.
Mining industry knowledge is an asset.
Personnel coordination experience is an asset.
