Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Backend Software Engineer (Kotlin/Java) for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Mexico. Our client is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company specializing in discovering, developing, and commercializing prescription medicines. They work alongside the world's leading academic and biotech research institutions to stimulate innovation and evaluate emerging technologies. The client operates in over 100 countries, and its innovative medicines are used by millions of patients worldwide.Requirements:

- 3-5 years of experience as Backend developer.
- Solid understanding of API design principles and RESTful API development.
- Proficiency in database management and experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with security best practices and authentication/authorization mechanisms.
- Experience with performance optimization techniques and scalability considerations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices is a plus.
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and APIs using the Kotlin programming language.
- Create well-structured APIs that facilitate smooth data exchange between frontend, other services, and external partners.
- Manage database schemas, write efficient queries, and ensure data integrity and optimal performance.
- Ensure secure user interactions by handling authentication, authorization, and session management.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate frontend and backend components seamlessly.
- Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, and responsiveness using techniques like caching and load balancing.
- Implement security measures such as encryption, access controls, and data validation to protect sensitive information.
- Write unit tests, integration tests, and debug code to ensure code quality and identify and rectify issues.
- Document code, APIs, and system architecture to facilitate understanding, maintenance, and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing and deployment processes.
- Monitor backend performance, address issues, and perform maintenance tasks to ensure system health.
- Collaborate with other team members, including designers and product managers, to align on requirements and deliver cohesive solutions.
