Roles and Responsibilities of the Controller Position of HLC

1. Financial Statements: Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets.

2. Variance Analysis: Analyze and report on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance, identifying significant variances and trends. Provide insights for strategic decision-making.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate in the development and maintenance of the annual budget. Monitor budget adherence and prepare forecasts as needed.

4. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger. Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and accounts.

5. Tax Compliance: Oversee and coordinate tax compliance, working with external tax professionals to ensure accurate and timely filing of all required tax returns.

6. Internal Controls: Establish, enforce, and continuously improve financial controls to safeguard company assets and maintain data accuracy.

7. Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and meet financial obligations. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

8. Bank and Treasury Management: Maintain relationships with financial institutions, manage bank accounts, and optimize the company's cash position.

9. Collaborate with the Company’s IT resources to ensure the security and functionality of financial and operational software systems.

10. Data Analysis Tools: Utilize technology and data analysis tools to extract meaningful insights from financial data.

11. Payroll Oversight: Oversee payroll processing and ensure accurate payroll tax compliance.

12. Benefit Administration: Collaborate with HR to manage employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.

13. Labor Cost Analysis: Work with HR to analyze labor costs and their impact on the company's ;s financials.

14. Insurance Policy Management: Collaborate with insurance brokers to manage and optimize business and employee benefit insurance policies, ensuring adequate coverage and cost control.

15. Claims Handling: Coordinate and oversee the handling of insurance claims and reporting, ensuring timely resolutions.

16. Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about accounting, financial, HR, and insurance regulations. Ensure company-wide compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
