Breaking News Correspondent

Monitors incoming news. Makes fast decisions and ensures content is quickly edited and transmitted.
- Refines and codes content and improves content where appropriate, ensuring correct balance, style, objectivity and reliable sourcing.
- Liaises with journalists, other desks (including pictures, the Editorial Reference Unit, TV and graphics) and specialist editors and provides feedback as needed.
- Monitors external media and other sources, identifying gaps in coverage and feeds into the news editing process.
- May create content. May engage clients (through blogs, online chatrooms etc).
- For local language services adapts, translates and codes international service stories per local client requirements. May directly inject to a local language service.
- Originates and edits graphics to illustrate text stories.
