The Sr. Manager of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Test is responsible for all test development to support the launch of products globally that are designed in North America. The AME test engineering team is involved in the early phases of new products to provide RFQ support to determine capital and labor estimates and also drives design for manufacturing test strategy to ensure the new product will be able to hit quality and cost targets. Under the direction of the Sr. Manager, AME Test, the group will develop a comprehensive test strategy from board level to end of line including product flashing to industrialize a new product. Industrialization includes the determination of manufacturing test processes required to produce the product and requires development of new test equipment, product specific fixtures and test software to support high volume manufacturing. As an minor part the job holder will participate and sometimes lead global commonality teams to define test best practices and common test methods.
**S**u**p**e**rv**is**o**r**y R**e**s**p**o**ns**i**b**ili**t**i**e**s**:
- Direct reports may include people with any level of technical expertise through all levels of test engineering and direct report managers. The number of direct reports for the position is typically 5 to 20.
- As a part of the supervisory responsibilities, if there is not an employee to attend the process, the direct boss will have to attend the process or assign the activities to another employee (with equal qualifications).
**Responsibilities**:
- This position is responsible for driving all test development from concept through production for automotive electronics developed in North America. The primary focus of the position is leading and managing the Advanced Manufacturing Test Engineering group. This includes driving recruiting; actively managing and developing personnel, managing a departmental budget, continuously improving processes and performance, meeting important company goals, reporting key information to upper management, timely completion of projects, and generally providing solid leadership.
- Drives project management and resource allocation interactions. Manage organization of Test Engineers with approximately 3 to 10 direct reports and total organization of 15 to 20 including remote site support teams.
- Manage budgets for entire organization approximately $3M total including compensation, benefits, and expense
- Assist in managing capital projects totaling over $15M per year.
- Develop and maintain a highly capable technical team with excellent customer service skills by creating an environment that fosters innovations, teamwork and empowers the team to identify and implement new solutions with cost, footprint reductions and improved quality.
- Drive for standardization globally with all manufacturing regions.
- Support RFQ activities and support the IPM, HW, SW teams and plant engineering groups to ensure successful new product launch.
- Design for Manufacturability and Design for Test - ensure future product are designed to minimize the manufacturing cost and align with test capability and are taking into account lessons learned. It is critical to drive software team on flashing strategy to ensure product can be programmed in a high volume manufacturing site.
- Define a test and technology roadmap for future audio and infotainment products including new technology and new processes.
- Develop and maintain a highly capable technical team with excellent customer service skills that provide input to the pilot builds and throughout the product development lifecycle as well as support and train the manufacturing test teams.
