The Sr. SOC Analyst will be responsible to provide managed Security Operations Center (SOC) analysis associated with user monitoring activities through the processing and management of incident and request tickets, as they are assigned. Deeper dives into threat hunting are also in scope. The responsibilities include receiving and managing escalations from other Analysts, users, and other internal groups, as well as managing the full incident handling lifecycle with customers. The Sr. analyst is expected to contribute to internal documentation and adherence to SLA targets and requirements needed to resolve complex cases. Senior Analysts are expected to participate in and contribute to planning and implementation of strategic and operational projects in efforts to achieve overall goals. Senior analysts are expected to be able to troubleshoot complex problems with little oversight, take ownership and work independently as needed to resolve users’ issues. This position requires shift work in a 24/7/365 environment.
Detailed Responsabilities:
1. Conduct systems and tools health checks.
2. Handle Tier 2 event incident response, case management, and user notification.
3. Identify abnormal security events and trigger the call list / distribution list.
4. Recognize successful cyber intrusions and compromises through log review and analysis of relevant event detail information.
5. Launch and track security investigations to resolution. Recognize cyber-attacks based on their signatures.
6. Differentiate the false positives from true intrusion attempts and help remediate / prevent.
7. Analyze and assess security incidents and escalates to appropriate internal teams for additional assistance.
8. Actively investigate the latest in security vulnerabilities, advisories, incidents, and penetration techniques and notify client when appropriate.
9. Perform tasks as identified in a Security Operations Process Manual and runbooks.
10. Coordinate with internal teams for relevant security incident investigations.
11. Develop reports and/or briefings for events/incidents for management.
12. Maintain shift logs for all conducted SOC activities during scheduled hours.
13. Handling and mitigating attacks related to viruses, spoofing, hoaxes, malware with the help of stakeholders
14. Maintain security of Current Threats - Conduct threat hunting operations and report In-the-wild threats that can affect our environment based in our infrastructure (hardware and software).
15. SOC Activity Log -creating, reviewing, and maintaining entries, working with other analysts Report Creation - creating temporary or permanent reports for customers, as requested.
16. Tuning - regularly performing tuning and filtering SIEM alerts and monitoring components to ensure only relevant security data is gathered.
17. System Maintenance - assisting Cybersecurity Engineers with maintenance on security devices, as needed.
Supervisory Responsabilities:
1. Case Management - ensuring the case management process is handled efficiently in a timely manner by all SOC personnel.
2. Training and Mentoring SOC personnel - Sr. SOC Analysts are responsible for training new SOC employees; also responsible for training and mentoring existing SOC personnel on new technologies implemented by the organization; also responsible for retraining SOC personnel, if necessary.
3. Daily Traffic Review - replaying traffic from previous shifts and reviewing customer reports to ensure potential security incidents were not missed by a Level 1 Analyst.
4. Train SOC Level 1 Analysts on new attack signatures and attack methodologies
Job Qualifications:
**Skills**:
- Experience with one or more Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions. (such as McAfee, LogLogic, Splunk, QRadar, ArcSight)
- Understanding of common attacks (e.g. brute force, SYN flood, session hijack, smurf etc.) and their SIEM signatures
- Experience in security monitoring, Incident Response (IR), security tools configuration and security remediation
- Strong knowledge and experience in Security Event Analysis capability
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Preferred:
- Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP stack, SSL/TLS, IPSEC, SMTP/IMAP, FTP, HTTP etc.)
- Understanding of Operating System, Web Server, database and Security devices (firewall/NIDS/NIPS) logs and log formats.
- Understanding of String Parsing and Regular Expressions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are needed to perform the job of a SOC analyst.
- Understand cyber-attack methods, perform analysis of security logs to detect unauthorized behavior, provide daily reports to Team Leader
- Good knowledge in CyberSecurity Incident Investigation, Root cause analysis and Troubleshooting and publishing Post Incident Reports
