Position Responsibilities
- Conscientious, detail-oriented and generates accurate financial results/reports.
- Meet requested and required deadlines with assistance in prioritizing the monthly tasks included in Property Accounting checklist and special requests.
- Perform advanced accounting functions for Fund Accounting responsibilities per guidelines provided.
- Support in emission of financial statements (monthly, quarterly and annually depending on Fund requirements) including statement of changes in equity, statement of cash flow and footnotes to financial statements according to the Fund or JV requirements, if applicable.
- Analyzes and explains variances in financial results (budget/forecast to actual and month-to-month.)
- Preparation and/or review of standard monthly journal entries.
- Document certain accounting policies, processes and controls.
- Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- Review accuracy of corporate accountant work.
- Propose, recommend and independently implement process improvements.
- Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations.
- Review and analysis of financial statements and supporting schedules for reporting to internal management. Communicate with other departments and teams to obtain information needed to complete analysis.
- Understand internal control systems and monitor processes for potential weaknesses.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Accounting degree from college or university.
- 2-3 Years of accounting experience required. Experience in public accounting or in a global corporate accounting environment strongly preferred.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting tools. Knowledge on PeopleSoft and Yardi a plus.
- Must be familiar with standard accounting concepts, practices and procedures within the real estate industry.
- Conscientious, detail-oriented and able to produce accurate financial reports.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Execute responsibilities with a sense of urgency and follow-through.
- Customer service mind-set and a team player mentality.
- Positive, proactive work ethic and approach.
- Exceptionally strong communicator with the patience and persistence to effectively work across the functional and cultural lines of multinational company.
- Demonstrated abilities to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
- Show tact, discretion, confidentiality and good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters and documentation.
- Strong analytical, process improvement, organizational and project management skills.
- Understands internal control systems and can monitor for processes for potential weaknesses.
- Able to communicate effectively and efficiently with staff, peers, internal customers and upper management on issues that require professionalism and sensitivity.
