**Job Description - Network engineer**

Responsible for managing network engineering of new capabilities and the day-to-day 7 x 24 production environment of the network (core, distribution, wired & wireless access layers, and WAN), and network security. Responsible for ensuring that policies, standards, standard operating procedures and how-to documents are developed and utilized. The Network Engineer is responsible for the overall design, configuration, implementation and support of the local and wide area networks. The position will assist in the global day-to-day troubleshooting and support of local and wide area networks. The individual must be a proven self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks with very little supervision. Support new project Implementations within project scope and schedule.

- Ability to work independently on assignments with mínimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of Cisco network routing and switching
- Working knowledge of Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls and security
- Ensure that deliverables are produced within the planned budget and timeframe
- Capacity to successfully manage simultaneous requests from start to finish
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Work with the Infrastructure team to deliver business critical projects and maintain high levels of service.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results
- Analysis, testing, documentation, implementation and support of global data technologies

- Participate in office relocations, expansions, and other infrastructure changes
- Assist in the design and development of network implementations
- Perform all required operational maintenance and troubleshooting of supported systems
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises and actual events
- Evaluate and test software changes and updates supplied by vendors, prior to installation
- Conduct routine hardware and software audits of all supported systems to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and requirements
- Report progress to supervisor and project managers, including the preparation of weekly status reports
- Documenting network deployment and maintaining up-to-date network diagrams
- Support, monitor, configure, implement and document current local and wide area networks (including both physical and logical structures) within the BofI environment
- Troubleshoot and manage calls/tickets from the technical services group and assist with network administration
- Help provide technical direction to the company in the LAN/WAN environment and provide project management or assistance for network related initiatives
- Provide analysis of network configuration and related documentation. Monitor systems for network alerts and events so quick response can be provided and issues can be proactively addressed
- Ensure all IT equipment complies with industry and regulatory standards
- Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve faults in the operational network
- Ensure routine preventative maintenance and license compliance is performed
- Maintain relationship with vendors, consultants and ensure that network standards and deliverables are met
- Produce reports and perform additional tasks as assigned
- Document production systems for security, capacity, and usage
- Maintain existing servers and clients using available administration tools
- Monitor servers and their usage and capacity to minimize problems and outages
- Maintain the process involved in administration, maintenance, security, backup, and recovery
- Work with technical support, communications support, and vendors to resolve problems
- Work to expand security knowledge of banking and workgroup software and to maintain current in network, mainframe, client server, and internet/intran
