**What’s in it for you**: The Refining Industry Analyst will play a key role in providing understanding and outlooks within a highly experienced global oil team. They will have the opportunity to work alongside other skilled analysts, helping to form a consistent and comprehensive view of the global refining market. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to increase your analytical skills and knowledge by interacting with other commodities teams, and groups within the organization.
**Responsibilities**:
Carry out topical research, collect global refinery operations data from various internal and external sources on refinery runs, refinery utilization levels, margins, outages, product yields, and new refining projects.
Manage data and contribute to the World Refinery Database (WRD) maintenance, updating and improvement, and provide forecasts.
Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze database performance and data accuracy.
Perform high level analytics work and modeling to form conclusions on refinery operations and contribute to writing and providing data and charts for Spotlights, the Global Refining Outlook, and other Short-Term and Long-Term reports.
Collaborate with team members and support with ongoing research deliverables.
Develop Power Point presentations according to business needs.
Responds to client requests/inquiries for data and analysis.
**What We’re Looking For**:
BA/BS or MS in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Business, and/or related field of study. Equivalent experience within their discipline also considered. Chemical/refining engineering is preferred.
5 years' experience in refining and commodity markets. Previous refinery operational experience is a plus. Knowledge of the global refining industry, refinery processes, refined products from crude, refinery margins, refinery complexity, refinery maintenance is a must.
Designing, building, maintaining, and updating databases, and models using SQL, Python, front-end and back-end data and file management for databases.
Strong numerical and quantitative analysis skills. Expert status in Microsoft office and advanced Excel. Knowledge of PIMS and/or Spiral software a major plus.
Displays well-rounded communication skills in English that implement good listening techniques, clear, concise writing style, and good verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally. Public speaking experience is a plus.
Works well in a team environment, focusing on collaboration and adapting to the needs of a diverse team.
Adept at managing multiple tasks and adhering to regular deadlines. Able to adjust priorities throughout the day.
Professional integrity and willingness/desire to cultivate open mindset and teamwork culture.
