**About the job**

RHI Magnesita is looking for a dynamic Head of Procurement North America to preferably sit in either Tampa, FL, York, PA, or Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. This role is an experienced and strategic role that oversees our procurement operations in North America within the refractory industry. This role will be responsible for directing and optimizing our procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of high-quality materials, equipment, and services to support our operations and meet customer demands.

As the Head of Procurement this role will play a crucial role in developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the procurement function. As of now, the Head of Procurement is also part of the North America Regional Leadership Team (RLT).

**Tasks will include**:

- Align regional procurement activities with procurement activities under global responsibility (high spend raw materials, sea freight, trading materials).
- Manage the procurement process, including purchase orders and goods flow, while collaborating closely with suppliers to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries. Additionally, oversee the procurement budget, tracking expenses, and timely reporting.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures, contributing to their continuous improvement. As a procurement professional, this role encompasses ensuring compliance with policies and regulations concerning data privacy, security, and legal requirements.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, including conducting due diligence on supplier capabilities and capacity. This includes researching suppliers, visiting supplier facilities, and conducting reference checks to ensure that suppliers have the necessary expertise and capacity to meet the company's needs.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and pricing.
- Create and execute global supplier diversity strategies that ensure the proper identification, qualification, and inclusion of diverse suppliers already in our network as well as potential new diverse suppliers.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with key stakeholders to guarantee the prompt delivery of goods.
- Collaborate with cross-function teams, including engineering and project management, to identify cost saving opportunities and streamline processes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to a diverse, high-performing team, focused on achieving revenue goals and fostering long-term growth. This role involves setting objectives, providing training, ensuring resource availability, and creating a positive, innovative team culture.

**About you**
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- 7 years + of proven experience in procurement with the refractory industry or a related manufacturing sector.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, strategic sourcing methodologies, and contract negotiations.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of successfully directing and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent logical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and manage complex procurement projects.
- Proficiency in supplier evaluation and selection, contract management, and supplier performance measurement.
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations, compliance standards, and sustainability initiatives.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and driving operational excellence.
