OVERVIEW
The Higher Education Program Coordinator will direct the implementation of USCRI’s Higher Education for Complementary Education Pathways Program, conducted in its Aguascalientes field office and implemented across Mexico. The program offers services to refugee youth who will receive in-kind scholarships after resettling in Mexico in order to pursue an undergraduate or Master’s degree in a local higher education institution. The Program Coordinator will work with a team of USCRI staff that provide direct services to ensure intake, regularization of status in Mexico, travel to Mexico, housing, stipend distribution, cultural integration, academic performance, and career development after graduation. Core responsibilities for the Program Coordinator include leadership of a mission-driven group of case management and operations staff, reporting of program results, and quality assurance for client services. This position will report to the Program Coordinator, USCRI Mexico.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate activities of the different program areas;
- See to program-related emergencies, when necessary;
- Follow up on communications between civil society organizations and national and international entities;
- Attention and follow up on student-related emergencies;
- Implement the accompaniment system for higher education program students;
- Execute and supervise the execution of actions derived from reports in order to improve the accompaniment of students in the higher education program;
- Seek partnerships and linkages that obtain concrete benefits in assets or services for the students of the higher education program;
- Promote the self-care and attention to the team through bulletins, a good practices policy, activities and workshops;
- Coordinate the education program team; and
- Supervise all activities of the education program and prevent any risk.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; Master’s degree in business, social services administration, non-profit management, related field, or equivalent experience preferred;
- Minimum of one (1) year of professional work experience with supervisory and program management experience;
- Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian response, for refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and/or other vulnerable populations;
- Strong leadership experience and team-building skills, with the capacity to serve as lead for provision of trauma-informed, culturally appropriate and competent client care;
- Experience with monitoring & evaluation activities to ensure program quality and compliance with donor requirements;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to government funders, donors, clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and experience, multicultural staff, community partners, and volunteers;
- Exceptional time management, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
- Strong decision-making skills and capacity to delegate decision-making to team members;
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, financial systems, and database programs; and
- Commitment to USCRI’s values including demonstration of respect for others and appreciation of a multicultural workplace;
- Must pass a criminal background check and other screening requirements;
- Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace;
- Spoken and written Spanish and English is required.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training; and
- Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
