Job Summary

The Telecom Specialist leads efforts to research, design, and plan and maintains new or existing voice hardware and software technology components. The Telecom Specialist utilizes proven systems & infrastructure, scripting, and developer skills to execute on to routine to common tasks related to hardware and software technology component analysis, integration, and routine incident and problem resolution. This role also helps define and update items in the configuration management plan.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the team by providing engineering experience in routine to common situations and day-to-day operations.
- Develop collaborative skills and engage with the voice engineering team to administer and maintain carrier VoIP platform across multiple vendor equipment including hardware and software upgrades; assist with the planning, development, coordination of scheduled voice platform maintenance.
- With guidance perform daily checks, monitor vendor support and perform required maintenance to keep the voice systems highly available, highly stable, and always performing optimally.
- Actively participate with the engineering teams to administer and maintain routine and simple platforms across multiple vendor equipment including hardware and software; participate in team meetings where new product and project planning takes place; participate in development of engineering and support documentation; assist in the planning, development, coordination of scheduled platform maintenance.
- Participate, as a key member of the Telecommunications team, in the routine and common design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and monitoring of core services required for VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) deployments including QOS (Quality of Service), COS (Class Of Service) VLAN’s (Virtual Local Area Network), SBC’s (Session Border Controller) and SIP (Session Initiated Protocol) Carrier Services.
- Actively participate in required implementation and support situations (“on-call”, including nights and weekends).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience

Education: College degree or equivalent work experience; 1-4 years of related experience
