Materials Manager

**Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assures that all members of the Supply Chain department follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Procedures as defined by Nordson Medical’s polices ensuring that FDA and Quality Standards are met.
- Develops and implements long term departmental goals that ensure effectiveness and efficiency in Supply Chain activities.
- Effectively manage team members by determining clear roles and responsibilities, managing workload and holding team accountable to deliverables, identifying development needs, and coach team members as needed.
- Supervises, coaches, and evaluates personnel in site, production control, master planner, warehousing, shipping, and receiving.
- Establish programs and works with Purchasing in order to deliver and track continuous material cost reductions.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining, and aligning company policies and procedures.
- Prepare and make presentations related to department responsibilities and participate in management reviews as appropriate.

**Production Control**:

- Establishes standard practices and supervises for adherence and accuracy, and will perform as needed, to develop a production master schedule by analyzing customer demand, monitoring and assessing material inventories, developing a material requirements plan, and tracking production capacity and times and reviewing other factors that affect schedules.
- Ensures that order confirmation dates are provided in a timely manner as required based on appropriate master scheduling activities.
- Implements process to communicate production schedule to Production on a routine basis and sets up daily, weekly, and monthly processing routine to monitor shop order status and issues, which outputs required customer order and shipment status updates and assures on time delivery to customers.
- Analyze customer forecasts and identify issues with capacity, material availability, etc. that may risk meeting future customer demand.
- Effectively communicates and escalates as needed issues that arise which may delay on time delivery. Develops alternative delivery dates when needed and works with Customer Service to update system as needed and provides information to make necessary communication to customers.
- Creates and maintain recovery plans as needed to be used for both internal production scheduling and customer communication purposes to address customer backlog situations.
- Establishes process for providing real time feedback on shop order and delivery status to customer service and production, including providing metrics for schedule attainment (P. vs. A.) and OTD as requested.

**Warehouse / Shipping / Receiving**:

- Creates policies and procedures that facilitate effective custodianship of inventory and minimize inventory holding costs.
- Continuously monitor usage, supplier lead times, and customer demand variation to set appropriate safety stock levels and work with Purchasing to maintain these.
- Continuously monitors inventory levels to address potential stock-out situations and works with Purchasing to address issues in a pro-active manner.
- Implements, manages, and improves the kanban system for the production floor and warehouse stock management.
- Develops and implements cycle count and year-end full physical inventory policies and procedures.
- Assures all material transactions are performed in an appropriate and timely manner (warehouse, shop floor, and shipping).
- Responsible for accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with Finance an inventory control system, capable of identifying discrepancies in inventory counts and taking corrective action to guard against inconsistencies in the future.
- Establishes, manages, and executes inventory strategy including use of various warehouse locations to minimize storage costs, minimize tax liabilities, and to support the plant with adequate levels of materials.
- May be asked to ship products during non-business hours
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining, and aligning company policies and procedures.

**Import/Export & Logistics**:

- Supervises and supports the plant’s logistic activities and assures that the logistics area conforms with the government and maquiladora regulations.
- Supervises Import & Export activities of merchandise & assures Custom’s regulation compliance.
