Position Summary:
Monitors and manages supplier quality and delivery performance to ensure products and services are delivered to required quality and delivery performance levels. Directs examinations of product batches for quality issues, coordinates material returns if found defective seeking the least impact on lost productivity. Tracks defect rates in PPM and areas of the manufacturing process that result in defects. Determines and performs assessments for effectiveness of corrective actions as needed. Collaborates with Procurement, Technology and NPD teams to qualify new suppliers. Coordinates and, where appropriate, approves supplier PPAPs. Coordinates and, where appropriate, approves supplier 8Ds. Assists key suppliers with quality improvement opportunities. Main quality communication channel between plant and supplier.
Main Responsibilities and Authorities
- Review and Evaluate Supplier: Processes, Procedures, Measurement Systems, Personnel, Material and other required elements; to ensure conformance to required standards.
- Identify, record, track, report and request improvements for supplier quality issues.
- Maintain documentation and reports.
- Coordinate technical guidance of plant products to suppliers.
- Communication link between suppliers and senior management.
- Follows the Eight Disciplines of Problem Solving (8D).
- Coordinates PPAP evaluation for new product introduction.
- Ensures incoming inspection team is adequately resourced to achieve objectives
. Education / Experience / Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience in Metal-Mechanical Industry.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Experience 5+ years.
- Green belt in Lean Six Sigma within 1 year.
- Desirable knowledge of CMM, optical systems, gear inspection, metallurgy.
- ASQ certification desired.
Travel:
- US VISA
- Available for transfer
Languages:
- Bilingual Spanish - English 80%.
