As part of the Gas Power One Field Services team,** FieldCore** installs, maintains and upgrades power generation equipment, enabling operators of the world’s energy infrastructure to provide more reliable and affordable energy.
**Job Summary**
The Electrical Technical Field Advisor III (TFA III), having completed level III competencies, manages the activities of the electrical systems on site during the installation, commissioning and maintenance of gas and/or steam turbines (generator or mechanical drive). Responsible for interpreting the field procedures, plant engineering documents and electrical schematics, troubleshooting of turbine/generator electrical systems, planning, organizing, integrating, and directing resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete the work scope in accordance with contractual requirements.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Electrical Technical Field Advisor will install, commission, and troubleshoot the generator, digital electronic starters (LCI), Digital Generator Protection and supporting wiring systems for gas and steam turbines
- Trace through the software documentation
- Implement control constant modifications
- Reading and Modifying software sequencing
- Set up and modify the hardware /software associated with Gas and Steam Turbine systems
- Implement excitation control system software changes
- Work with both DOS and Windows NT based operator interfaces
- Work with both analog and digital controls including logic
- Provide Technical Direction for wiring install and terminate, complete functionality checks, and troubleshooting the turbine excitation / LCI system.
- Perform start-up/shut-down sequencing and turbine/generator operation.
Pre-outage and installation planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures
- Availability to frequent travel and work off-shore
- Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
- May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.
**Required Qualifications & Experience**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering and 5 years of experience, or 7 years of experience without formal degree, in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning.
- Successful completion of required TFA III training programs is a minimum requirement
- Fluent and proficient in both spoken and written English
- Skills: Excitation AVR, Electrical Installation, EX2100/2100E, LS2100/2100E, Generator Protec & CTRL
**Desired Characteristics**:
- Experienced level. Has the knowledge and skill to oversee outage management within a competency and may possess expertise in a secondary competency. Demonstrates mentor and team lead skills.
- Experience with Gas Turbine Driver Control Systems and Auxiliary Systems
- Familiar with Instruments and controls and PLCs for controls training
- Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
