**CONTROLLER**

**Purpose of the Job**:
The Controller supervises the finance unit and is the financial spokeperson for the Organization. The Controller is a key member of the Executive Management team and assumes a strategic role in the overall management of the Company. The Controller will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and responsibility for accounting, finance, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, inventory management, purchasing and IT.

- Manage all aspects of finance and accounting: This includes billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, financial forecasting, budgets, various special analysis, consolidation and reporting.
- Provides leadership and maintains strong relationships with internal and external customers: Works with senior management to identify their needs and seek a full range of business solutions. Works with the purchasing / sales department to ensure raw material costs are recovered from customers. Keeps in contact with HQ to ensure all Kern-Liebers policies and procedures are followed.
- Coordinate external resources: Work with external stakeholders (auditors, local municipalities, state agencies) to ensure compliances with external requirements.
- Coordinate internal resources: Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the Organization including the organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, development and monitoring of organizational budgets. Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.
- Contributes to yearly business plans and budget process: Works closely with Senior leadership to plan, develop, direct, implement and maintain strategies for the long-term success of the plant. Develops long-term goals and translates them into short-term success plans. Plans for prepares and manages project budgets and capital budgets.
- Builds a stong finance team: Provides leadership and assists in employee's competency development. Hires, assigns and coaches' personnel to ensure effective organization. Completes all performance reviews in a timely manner. Train the Finance unit and other staff on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters.
- Complies with internal reporting requirements: Oversee all payments made for debts, other large quantities of money, purchasing and payroll activity for staff and participants. Oversee the production of monthly reports including financial statements and cash flow projections for use by Senior management.
- Safeguarding of assets: Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization and oversee federal awards and programs.
- Evaluate and recommend existing processes: Identifies and recommends improvements to current processes based on impact to business. Considers cost effective solutions with a continuous improvement mindset. Advise on financial analysis and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks and other matters with management.

**Education and Experience**:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with emphasis in accounting from an accredited college or university.

MBA Desirable.

At least five years of experience as Controller.

Computer knowledge: thorough knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite. Profiency in SAP Software.

Advance knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards and state/national regulations.

Advanced knowledge of creating and assesing financial statements and budget documents without errors.
