Position Summary
The Test Technician I is responsible for maintenance, effectiveness, and management of ongoing costs of the test system used in the manufacturing of F5 Networks products. Performs as an individual contributor and collaborates with peers under the direction of technical leads on assigned project teams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Must uphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics and promptly report violations of the Code or other company policies.
- Support our Contract Manufacturer (CM) team to insure successful testing of our products.
- Train the CM's test technicians and operators on the best practices with F5 test systems
- Be able to assemble, disassemble and troubleshoot electronic systems and test equipment.
- Support Test Engineers and Technology Services engineers onsite and from remote locations.
- Read schematics and understand electronic circuits
- Prepare units for First Article Verification tests of new Software from our product development group
- Communicate clearly in Spanish. Communication in English is a plus.
- Understand how computer networks function and how to troubleshoot them on the MFG floor.
- Understand and maintain all of the manufacturing test systems / networks.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to learn in fast-paced environment with little to no direction.
- Analytic / trouble-shooting skills.
- Hold a general knowledge of computer based systems.
- Have an analytical approach to solving test issues.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to learn new test methodologies and follow specific, detailed instructions.
- Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communications.
Qualifications:
- 0-2 years’ experience in a production test environment.
- BS/BA in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Duties are performed at our Contract Manufacturer in their electronics manufacturing environment.
- Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
- Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
- Job may be performed on-site at a Contract Manufacturer facility or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table.
- Job requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
