The Civil Engineer will be responsible for supporting the General Manager in the overall planning, coordination, and execution of multiple specific construction projects simultaneously. The Engineer will manage specific responsibilities with the addition of various ancillary tasks as deemed necessary by the Project Manager. The Engineer position is designed as a natural precursor to the Project Manager position for those Engineers who demonstrate excellence in their responsibilities and a propensity for leadership.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assist Project Manager with project activity (multiple projects) from preconstruction through close-out as the Project Manager deems necessary.
- Maintain project budgets for both internal and external presentation.
- Create and submit change order requests both internally (subcontractor & supplier) and externally (architect & owner,) as the Project Manager directs, and maintain logs of such.
- Report weekly to the Project Manager and owner a Financial & Time Exposure Forecast.
- Ensure that proper project and company accounting practices are followed in order to accurately manage the finances of the project and individual subcontract agreements and purchase orders.
- Review material submittals for accuracy and compliance with the construction documents, distribute for and gather approvals, publish approved submittals to the field, and manage a log of such. Additionally, ensure that orders for such materials are placed timely so as to ensure timely delivery on site in compliance with the overall schedule. Present and discuss the submittal log at applicable meetings in a productive manner so as to promote the progress of the project.
- Ensure that each project Superintendent is accurately documenting the project on site via daily logs and pictures.
- Ensure that all testing and inspections are occurring for the project, and manage a record of such.
- Provide and manage the required up-to-date copies of drawings and specifications to those involved in the project both internally and externally.
- Attend and participate in applicable meetings including the creation and distribution of agendas, and recording and distributing meeting minutes.
- Manage the project files including inspections, tests, safety, and other reports.
- Ensure that project close-out procedures are properly accomplished including the management of a final punch-list and compilation of an operation & maintenance manual.

**Qualification**:

- **_ Higher education required. Bachelor's degree or a current curriculum in Construction Management, or engineering degree is preferred._**:

- **_ Experience in Rail and Tracks, Civil Construction, Bridges, Subway or Tunnels._**:

- Must have a general knowledge of established construction practices.
- Must have the ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, plans, construction documents, contract documents, and specifications.
- Must have the ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Good at mathematics with strong analytical skills and attention to detail is required.
- Exceptional organizational skills are required along with the ability to schedule and execute tasks of a repetitive nature on a recurring basis.
- Time management, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills are required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
