Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

**This position is open only to residents of Guadalajara or those living within commuting distance of the British Trade Office, Guadalajara.**

Be part of the Department for Business and Trade’s (DBT) mission to drive more trade and investment between Mexico and the UK. With a mature, high spending consumer market and an open, liberal economy, world-class talent and a business-friendly regulatory environment, the UK is the leading destination for foreign investment in Europe, and the second highest investment destination in the world. The UK is also the world’s sixth largest exporter and the second largest services exporter.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic intern at the British Trade Office in Guadalajara, Mexico, to assist DBT Mexico Tech, Creative Industries and Retail & Luxury Goods team. This position will work under and report directly to the Trade & Investment Officer in the team.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Carry out Market Research and write reports
- Verification of Contacts and Public Relations work
- Support in the organisation of of trade events, trade missions and visit programmes.
- Periodically follow-up with commercial engagements
- Interaction with local companies and UK companies
- Provide support in the organisation for other activities

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Experience of Market Research
- Understanding of Commercial Topics such as Trade and Investment
- Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Outlook and MS Office packages.
- Should be a proactive and creative self-starter with strong interpersonal skills who has the ability to learn quickly.
- Must be willing to work in a constantly changing multicultural environment.
- Experience of carrying out projects/report writing in English and Spanish.
- Ability to work in office at least 3 days per week and flexibility to work 5 hours per day Monday to Friday.

**Language requirements**:
Language: English, Spanish

Level of language required: 600 TOEFL

Other benefits and conditions of employment

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Additional information

Flexible working patterns can be accepted, 3 days per week working from the office and 2 days working from home.
25 hours per week of work expected.
