**Job Summary**:
Contributes to the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems while contributing to teams.

**Qualifications**
- Methodically analyze assembly processes and drive cost and investment estimations, establish and ensure consistent and efficient flow to optimize manpower to meet quality targets in a high volume production environment.
- Evaluate and conceptualize estimations for future process or changes of current process to improve tooling, work holding and ergonomic opportunities to support production in this fast paced setting.
- Serves as primary liaison with cross-function Product Development Teams providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input for new products, and acting as the primary interface and transition of new product to a full production environment.
- Design and implement efficient processes using lean manufacturing principles, to enable single piece flow in a pull system philosophy for existing products or new product launches as appropriate.
- Conduct assessments of existing or proposed manufacturing processes to provide focused improvement opportunities to increase production efficiencies, eliminate waste, reduce inventory, reduce lead times, increase quality and improve safety and ergonomics.
- Identify and eliminate waste as well as evaluate potential changes in workflow to maximize production efficiencies.
- Lead cross-functional teams to implement 5S, standard work, set-up reduction, and problem solving/rapid change for current or new production assembly lines.
- Justify and purchase capital equipment/tooling to improve or implement manufacturing processes.
- Establish and document production standards and controls, conduct initial time studies and establish labor standards for new and existing products and process as necessary
- Establish appropriate methods, tools, equipment, etc. required to produce products in keeping with established quality and operating standards.
- Complete PFMEA analysis in a cross functional environment.
- Work with the product development teams and management to provide input for make vs. buy decisions.
- Provide input to Bills of Material and routing as necessary to maintain inventory control, financial controls and customer quality standards in the process.
- Establish facility layout that is consistent with kanban, efficient material flow and pull system techniques.

Equipment/Capital Procurement - Selects manufacturing equipment which meets the Cummins manufacturing specifications and meets the project or program needs.
Manufacturing Analysis Led Design - Uses digital tools to model and simulate manufacturing processes, equipment and performance to make data driven decisions before changes are made and to drive continuous improvements.
Process Documentation - Produces written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence which are followed correctly by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity in processes and standardization.
Tool and Fixture Design - Selects work-piece-holding devices capable of effectively holding parts and products during a manufacturing process to secure their position to meet functional requirements.

Continuous Process Improvement - Recognizes areas in which a process can be improved by properly implementing process improvement and waste reduction methodologies to reduce process cost and improve quality in current manufacturing processes.
Problem Solving - Solves problems and may mentor others on effective problem solving by using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and ensures actions to prevent problem reoccurrence are implemented.
Workstation Design - Designs operator work stations that are safe, healthy, and ergonomic while accounting for cost, quality, and delivery to contribute to an efficient work environment.
