Director, Portfolio Advocacy Lacan

**Summary**:
The Director, Portfolio Advocacy LaCan will drive and execute targeted advocacy activities for policy priorities across the Novartis portfolio in Region LaCan, focusing on both in-market and launch products in alignment with regional commercial priorities. This role will be integral to driving collaboration closely with internal stakeholders and aligning policy priorities across Portfolio Policy, Region and Country Public Affairs to shape advocacy activities across the Novartis portfolio in Region LaCan.
**About the Role**:
**Major accountabilities**:
- In close collaboration with Global PA TA Policy teams, adapt and/or design s policy material for regional use, and design and drive advocacy activities for policy priorities across the NVS portfolio in Region LaCan
- Focus on regional priorities, for both in-market and upcoming launches, and define clear launch prep timelines for PA based on key market needs
- Manage emerging policy issues, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy
- Shift priorities fluently in function of enterprise priorities and portfolio policy guidance within the region
- Connect with Portfolio Advocacy counterparts in the other PA regions to build strong network and share best practices across regions
- Build interfaces with commercial and relevant key functional counterparts in the International region and with key countries in the region
- Represent PA in regional TA/Launch /Commercial teams
- Build policy and engagement platforms for regional external engagement for selected TA areas
- Focus on execution of advocacy plans at country and regional level
- Represent Novartis in key trade associations at regional level with focus on relevant therapeutic areas or topics, aligned with Portfolio EDs
- Manage talent for the assigned area, above and in country and lead and coordinate any portfolio projects led by other above regional country team members
**Key performance indicators**:
- Connect with Global Portfolio Policy team to understand Novartis policy priorities for both in-market products, launch and pipeline
- Connect with Country PA leads and teams to coordinate execution of product policy priorities at local level
- Serve on x-functional regional TA/Product teams
- Align with Country PA Heads and LaCan PA Head on joint objective setting for the countries for portfolio topics (connect the dots between the product, country and region lens to define the portfolio advocacy priorities)
- Build and lead a strong and effective portfolio advocacy team for LaCan and mentor & develop country team members
**Minimum Requirements**:
**Work Experience**:
- Education: Degree Level
- 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in a policy, advocacy or commercial role
- Prior work experience at regional level and within a local market organization
- Strong understanding of advocacy work and engaging external stakeholders, skilled in building forward-looking Public Affairs plans
- Strong communication skills to convey policy and advocacy contents clearly and facilitate alignment among stakeholders across the organization
- Ability to work across different parts of the organization, build networks and share information with key stakeholders
**Skills**:
- Understanding of advocacy work and engaging external stakeholders
- Ability to build forward-looking Public Affairs plans

**Languages**:
- English fluent written & spoken, further language skills from the LaCan region are an asset.
