Packet Engineering Specialist

The Packet Engineering Specialist is responsible for designing and decommissioning end-to-end network circuits to support the delivery and removal of services. This role focuses on monitoring network capacity, ensuring optimization, and resolving complex telecommunications challenges. The specialist works closely with internal teams to coordinate provisioning activities and maintain accurate network records while supporting a high-volume, technically dynamic environment. Location & Work Type Location: Mexico Work Type: Remote Key Responsibilities - Analyze service orders to determine appropriate circuit design or decommissioning requirements. - Design, prepare, and interpret detailed circuit layout records for end-to-end circuit delivery and removal. - Coordinate with internal departments to ensure all elements required for provisioning and decommissioning are completed. - Work within existing routers and switches to activate or deactivate ports, install or remove circuit configurations, and manage port and equipment labeling. - Create and support detailed work orders for field technicians. - Perform issuance and reclamation of IP addresses, DNS records, and TIDs. - Maintain facility inventory systems to ensure accurate and complete facility assignments and removals. - Identify network congestion and notify engineering or planning teams as needed. - Provide technical support and interpretation to field resources upon request. - Assist engineers in developing and revising internal procedures related to installations and disconnections. Qualifications - 3+ years in a telecommunications circuit design role encompassing all aspects of circuit design from order acceptance to published circuit layout records for all types of circuits. - Hands-on knowledge of telecommunications equipment configuration. - Working knowledge of network interface devices is a plus. - Experience with CRM and network inventory database applications is a plus. - In-depth knowledge of telecommunications standards and protocols. - High-level understanding of network configuration and interworking. - Practical knowledge of Wavelength, Ethernet, and IP network technologies. - Ability to initiate and comprehend complex designs and arrange detailed information in a logical format. - Competency in navigating various database applications and Microsoft software applications such as Excel, Visio, and Word. - Ability to manage a high-volume workload efficiently while maintaining strong attention to detail in an interrupted work environment. - Self-motivated with the ability to continuously learn in a technically evolving environment. - Fluent English (written and spoken) required.
