The Subject Matter Expert is responsible for managing and growing M&A pipeline, developing and following M&A procedure steps and achieving targets. They identify new business opportunities, build and maintain relationships with key prospects, and provide excellent relations with clients. The Subject Matter Expert also conducts market research, analyzes industry trends, and provides strategic recommendations to senior management. This role requires extensive experience in sales, strong analytical skills, and the ability to develop and maintain strong customer relations.
Job Description
Job Summary:
Objective: Provide specialized expertise to support the M&A lead and team in scouting, evaluating, and advancing selected acquisition targets. This role is critical to ensure timely, data-driven decisions and reduce risk in the acquisition process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Target Evaluation & Analysis
• Conduct detailed assessments of the pre-selected list of companies, including financial, operational, and strategic fit.
• Identify risks, synergies, and potential deal breakers.
• Manage and leverage existing pipeline
2. Reporting & Recommendations
• Deliver timely, structured reports on each target's evaluation status.
• Provide clear recommendations on whether to proceed, pause, or stop engagement with a target.
3. Information Gathering & Coordination
• Collaborate with the internal M&A team to obtain necessary data and insights.
• Ensure alignment with corporate strategy and compliance requirements.
4. Market & Industry Insights
• Offer expert perspective on market trends, competitive landscape, and valuation benchmarks relevant to the targets.
5. Decision Support
• Act as a trusted advisor to the M&A lead, supporting decision-making with evidence-based analysis.

Administrative Tasks
• Keep accurate and up-to-date records of target companies status and interactions
• Submit necessary paperwork and reports in a timely manner
• Manage and track expenses related to M&A activities
• Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions.
• Update pipeline in a regular basis.

Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental sciences, biology, or a related field with at least 10 years experience or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to water and wastewater treatment field work, sales and marketing.

• Proficiency in data analysis tools and software is appreciated.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
