Account Director (Freelance)

Role Overview: This freelance, contract-based role is responsible for leading strategic communication and public relations efforts on behalf of key clients. The position requires strong media relations expertise, proven storytelling capabilities, and experience managing communication strategies at a regional and global scale.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development and execution of integrated communication and public relations strategies that support client brand goals and business objectives.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, deliverables, and performance expectations with precision and accountability.
- Create high-quality communication materials—including press releases, media kits, articles, and thought-leadership content—to strengthen visibility and positioning.
- Cultivate and expand relationships with top-tier media outlets, digital platforms, and key industry stakeholders across Latin America and global markets.
- Secure impactful editorial coverage and manage media inquiries, including sensitive or high-stakes communication cycles.
- Monitor media trends, brand perception, and competitor activity, delivering ongoing analysis and performance reporting with actionable insights.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute press events, media briefings, and brand activations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic communication guidance and ensuring message consistency across channels and audiences.
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned brands, coordinating work with internal teams, partner agencies, and client global/regional communications teams.
- Lead communication initiatives for SAMY+ and oversee Zavia Studio’s international PR efforts.
- Develop and present PR proposals, scopes of work, and strategic roadmaps, ensuring alignment with client needs and budget.
- Maintain an exceptional standard of client service, ensuring proactive communication, follow-through, and measurable impact.

Minimum Qualifications

- Full professional fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written); English is the official working language.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or influencer marketing—ideally in hospitality, lifestyle, design, or architecture industries.
- Strong media network across Latin America with proven Tier-1 international and regional press relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex industry or policy topics into compelling and accessible narratives.
- Previous experience working in PR agencies, client-facing roles, or fast-paced communication environments.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience leading strategic communications at a senior level within an agency environment.
- Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
- Proven storytelling mindset with the ability to craft strong narratives that align to business goals.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional and international teams.
- Familiarity with influencer marketing strategies and modern PR/communication tools.
